Science Experiments: Make Kids Go BOOM

Posted by Emma Bennett on

Teaching kids about science can be fun and exciting; from easy science experiments to discovering the natural world, kids will gain new knowledge while having a great time.

One of the best ways to help kids learn science is through experiments. By doing practical activities, they can see the science behind the lesson and understand it better.

1. Baking Soda and Vinegar Volcanoes

This is an easy and yet very exciting experiment for kids. Mix 1/4 cup of baking soda with 1/2 cup of vinegar in a bottle. Watch as it creates an explosive chemical reaction with bubbles and fizz.

2. Rainbow Flower Experiment

For this experiment, place white flowers in different jars of coloured water. Watch as the flower absorbs the colored water and slowly changes colours. It is a great way to learn about how plants absorb water and nutrients.

3. Cloud In A Jar

This is an exciting experiment that involves water, shaving cream, and food colouring. Put water in a jar, add some shaving cream on top, put it upside down, and add a few drops of food colouring under the shaving cream. As the water molecules escape the shaving cream, it forms beautiful white clouds with different colours.

4. DIY Kaleidoscope

Make an easy Kaleidoscope with your kids using paper towel rolls, plastic mirrors, and beads. Place the beads in the tube, add the mirrors on the tube's sides, and put the other end of the tube on a brightly lit object to see the magic happen.

5. The Onion Experiment

This experiment involves an onion and salt. Slice half an onion, put salt on it and wait for ten minutes. You will see the onion's cell walls become more visible, showing the structural complexity of an onion's cells in detail.
